Sheikh Jassim submits improved offer for Manchester United

Manchester United’s bid to change ownership has taken an interesting turn as Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, a prominent Qatari businessman, submitted an improved offer to the Glazer family to buy the club.

The deadline for submitting improved bids was extended, with Sheikh Jassim and his team among those taking advantage of the opportunity to make another offer.

This was followed by confirmation of a rival bid from Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS.

Reports suggest that United had been anticipating Sheikh Jassim’s latest bid by Friday night, although the submission was delayed until early Saturday morning due to some final details that had to be sorted.

Raine Group, which is responsible for the sale, has also received multiple offers for a minority stake in the club. Elliott Investment Management, the former owners of AC Milan, is among the bidders.

Meanwhile, Finnish businessman Thomas Zilliacus, who made a speculative offer earlier this week, urged Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim to join his bid on Saturday in the interest of the club.
