Show me some respect! Chelsea boss Conte defends his dramatic touchline antics

The Blues boss believes there is nothing wrong with being passionate and close to his players

Antonio Conte defends his touchline antics during Chelsea ‘s 4-0 win over Manchester United – and has demanded respect from “everyone”.

Speaking in his Tuesday press conference, ahead of Chelsea’s EFL Cup game against West Ham, the Blues boss was again asked for his thoughts on Jose Mourinho ‘s comments.

The Manchester United manager approached Conte following his side’s 4-0 drubbing and expressed his displeasure at the Italian riling up the crowd.

The Red Devils boss said: “It’s just my opinion, but don’t do that at 4-0. You can at 1-0, but at 4-0 it’s humiliation.”

On Tuesday, Conte was asked if, in the time since the game, he had reflected on Mourinho’s comments, he replied: “I think in this moment it’s not important to talk again about a game that for us is the past.

“Now it’s important to be focused against West Ham. I’m pleased with the performance against United but now it’s important to not look to the past.”

Asked if he should dim his approach to touchline management, he said: “I think that everyone must show respect for me, for my work, for my job.

“I have a history and you can see my history, my past and my behaviours on the bench.

“I’m a passionate man, I show this in the past (and) now. I want to stay very close to my players, also to play with them, to help them.

“I always show respect for the opponent, for the other teams, for the other club and my history speaks for me.”
