Simeone eyes Striker

Simeone is considering a deal for Ibrahimovic.

Diego Simeone could be set to move for a striker, though contrary to popular belief it will not be Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette or Chelsea’s Diego Costa, but rather Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Atletico are looking to strengthen their forward line this summer, however their ban against registering new players until January has meant their hands are somewhat tied in that regard.

Diego Costa and Alexandre Lacazette are known to be of interest to the ‘colochoneros’ but according to ‘Sport’, they also have a third name on their wish list, none other than Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Spanish paper claims that the player’s agent Mino Raiola has already received several offeres for his client’s services this summer, with one of those coming from Atletico.

The Swede is understood to be high on Simeone’s wish list this summer. ‘Sport’ also claims that Simeone sees elements of Vieri in Ibrahimovic.

Ibrahimovic’s arrival would not dampen the club’s interest in Diego Costa, Atletico remain interested in the Spanish-Brazilian, amongst other players. However, it is understood that the likes of Costa and Lacazette are uncertain about taking a six-month break from the game. On the other hand, the ban would not really affect Ibrahimovic as he is unlikely to be able to play until around January anyway due to his knee ligament troubles.
