Diego Simeone says he has full faith that Alvaro Morata and Diego Costa will thrive together at Atletico Madrid.
The pair were briefly team-mates at Chelsea, and, after re-joining Atleti last year following his travails with Antonio Conte, Costa is again competing with Morata after his fellow Spain international signed on at the Metropolitano in January.
Simeone’s preference for a single striker alongside playmaker Antoine Griezmann has prompted the media to try and stoke up a rivalry between the pair but the boss says he sees a different angle to their relationship.

The Argentine believes that Costa’s mentality means he is always up for a challenge and therefore would relish the task of trying to form a striking bond with the new boy.
He told reporters: “Absolutely, they can be compatible from a consolidated work and a team structure.
“He’s (Costa) a barbarian, it’s coming out, with ambition and as it is, he’s a warrior.
“Let’s start to take what’s inside him, we need it.”
