There was joy and fulfilment for the teams from Sokoto and Bauchi, who progressed with impressive victories on Thursday
Sokoto 6-0 Kebbi
Sultan Bello Secondary School, Sokoto went into the final day knowing they only needed a win to advance to Lagos, and they set about getting it in assertive fashion. Anas Bello opened the scoring inside the very first minute, before Jesse Victor and Sabiru Victor struck twice in one minute to effectively end the game as a contest. Nazir Nasir completed a second half brace after Abubakar Mohammed’s low shot befuddled Raphael David in the Kebbi goal.
Kaduna 3-0 Jigawa
An unfortunate injury to Jigawa goalkeeper Muhammed Muhammed meant this game could not go on, as there was no replacement for the stricken youngster. GSS Kaduna were consequently awarded three points and three goals, following walkover proceedings.
Bauchi 4-1 Kano
It was all to play for, as both teams knew that a win would see them through to the national finals. Whatever game plan GSS Sumaila, Kano came with was immediately in tatters, as Benjamin Yakubu struck twice inside the first four minutes. Kano fluffed a chance to hit back from the penalty spot, but soon pulled one back through Mubarak Inuwa. However, Yakubu completed his hat trick just three minutes after the break, before Mohammed Hussaini added gloss on the scoreline.
