Sokoto SWAN, Ministry pledge synergy for sports development

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Sokoto State chapter, has reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the State Ministry of Sports Development to enhance the growth of sports in the state.

During a courtesy visit to the commissioner, the SWAN Chairman, Umar Kware, emphasized the association’s dedication to strengthening its partnership with the ministry.

He commended the commissioner for his transformative efforts in revitalizing sports within a short period of assuming office. Kware also extended his condolences to the ministry over the recent loss of a staff member, offering prayers for eternal rest.

In his remarks, Comrade Kabiru Gobirawa applauded the commissioner’s visionary leadership, noting that the visit was in line with the directives of SWAN’s national headquarters to foster sports development in Sokoto.

Responding, the State Commissioner for Sports Development, Engineer Mustapha Muhammad, acknowledged the crucial role of sports journalists in promoting and analyzing sports activities. He described them as the vital bridge between athletes and the general public, ensuring that sports achievements and developments are well communicated.

“The way you analyze and promote sports makes people within the community develop more interest in sports.

“Your role is invaluable to the ministry, and we appreciate your efforts. We will continue to foster a strong relationship with SWAN to ensure the smooth and effective promotion of sports in Sokoto,” the commissioner stated.

The meeting reinforced the mutual understanding between SWAN and the ministry, paving the way for enhanced sports coverage, athlete promotion, and overall sports development in Sokoto State.
