Sports Ministry disbands NBBF Caretaker Committee

As the crisis in the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) thickens, the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development on Tuesday disbanded the NBBF Caretaker Committee headed by Ahmadu Muda Kida.

In a letter signed by the Secretary General of the Nigeria Basketball Federation, Afolabi-Oluwayemi Olabisi and addressed to Musa Kida and Mrs. Florence Bola Adeyanju respectively, it stated that the Caretaker Committee has been dissolved with immediate effect.

The letter stated in part; “As you may recall that the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Sunday Dare on 4th May, 2021, inaugurated the caretaker Committees for National Federations, including basketball, to run the affairs of the respective federations ahead of the election to their new boards.

“As the Nigeria Basketball Federation prepares for its elective congress, I am directed to inform you that the federation’s Caretaker Committee has been dissolved with immediate effect.”

The letter also appreciated the contributions of the members to the development of basketball in the country.
