Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Sports, Honourable Kabiru Amadu has commended President Bola Tinubu over his decision to scrap the Ministry of Sports and replace it with the National Sports Commission (NSC).
President Tinubu on Wednesday announced that the Ministry of Sports Development will no longer be in existence and its roles will taken over by the National Sports Commission.
Amadu who describes the President’s decision as a welcome development said the action has the backing of the National Assembly.

“I think Mr President should be highly recommended for this bold decision to return the Sports sector to a Commission. This has always been the position of the House Committee on Sports that a Sports Commission is what the country needs for effective Growth of the sector.
“Mr President just spoke the minds of many Sports stakeholders and we hope this is the beginning of a new chapter that will enhance the development of our Sports. The advantages of having a Sports Commission cannot be overemphasized because it will pave way for the right professionals to manage the sports sector,” the lawmaker said.
