St Clares emerge Goal Event 2021 champions

St Clares School, Oluyoro, Ibadan, on Monday emerged champions of the 2021 Goal Event Championship. 

The final which was played at the United Missionary Comprehensive College (UMCC), Molete, Ibadan saw St Clares whitewashed St Theresa’s 7-0.
Queen’s School, Ibadan beat Queen of Apostle via penalties 5-4 to claim the third position after the both sides played a 1-1 draw at regulation time.
The Goal Event Championship is part of the Youth Empowerment Foundation (YEF), an NGO that seeks betterment of the girl child and its five core areas of the foundation are; health, education, sports for development, child for protection and livelihoods.
Also, YEF Sports coordinator, coach Atanda Abiodun Sulaiman lauded all the participating schools for giving their best on the field of play.
He charged the Oyo State government to invest in a female soccer academy likewise invest in the state female football rather than focus on male football team alone.
Sulaiman disclosed that the championship was aimed to discover talents for Oyo State and the country at large.
“When you look at Oyo State, Ibadan precisely, we don’t have a female football team compared to Lagos and Abuja where they have strong female teams.”
