Sunderland’s Victor Anichebe doubtful for Watford game

David Moyes has hinted that the Nigeria international could be unavailable for Saturday’s home game against the Hornets

Sunderland manager David Moyes has disclosed that Victor Anichebe could be out of Sunderland’s game against Watford on Saturday at the Stadium of Light.

Anichebe was omitted in the team who faced Chelsea on Wednesday due to an injury he picked up during training.

Moyes stated that he is unsure whether the Super Eagles forward alongside Steven Pienaar and Javi Manquillo would be fit ahead of the game against Walter Mazzarri’s men,

“Victor and Steven weren’t available, and Manquillo could have been involved tonight but he got injured in training on Sunday,” said Moyes in a pre-match conference.

“They were the three who missed out through injury.

“I don’t know if they will be available for the weekend. We’ll have a look tomorrow and see how they are.”

Anichebe has maintained a superb goalscoring form with three goals from five games since joining the Black Cats in August.
