The management and players of Sunshine Stars FC of Akure have dedicated the victory recorded over Rivers United of Port Harcourt in a week 10 match of the NPFL to Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State.
The Media Officer of the club,Wahab Bankole, made this known to newsmen on Monday in Akure.
Bankole said the team was full of appreciation and gratitude to the new leadership in the state.
He attributed the hard earned win over Rivers United to the positive spirit and disposition of the soccer loving governor.
“The management and players of Sunshine Stars led by Mr Folayemi Joshua, Secretary of the club, wish to heartily dedicate the win over Rivers United to our amiable, and soccer loving governor.
“It is our belief that his coming at this time to take charge of the Sunshine State is an act of God as the new dawn begins in Ondo state.”
“We also salute and thank all soccer loving people of the state especially the fans and supporters who came from far and near to witness the important victory.”
Meanwhile, the management of Sunshine Stars has drafted Coach Henry Abiodun to play technical advisory role in the team.
According to the team’s Sporting Director, Aderemi Adetula, the need to give the team more technical balance informed the decision to draft coach Abiodun to the technical crew on advisory role.
Sunshine Stars who defeated Rivers United by 1-0 in Akure on Sunday, will on Wednesday take on El-Kanemi Warriors in Maiduguri.
