Super 6, boost for Eagles ahead 2018 CHAN–Yusuf

Super Eagles head coach, Salisu Yusuf, is excited by the participation of his wards in the NPFL Invitational Tournament (Super 6) which ends on Sunday, December 17 in Kano, saying it created a platform to assess the strength of his team ahead of the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Morocco.
The CHAN Eagles who defeated Enyimba 1-0 last Friday courtesy of Sunday Faleye’s second half goal will face MFM FC of Lagos in the final of the annual pre-season tourney at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano.
Yusuf stated that the Super 6 offered the technical crew an ample opportunity to spot some new quality players.
“This is an experimental ground that yielded a lot of positives for us and I must confess that we were privileged to be here. We have adopted two patterns, having tried 4-4-2 in our first game and switching to 4-3-3 in this game earned us something better, so it’s an eye opener and we have benefited from this tournament,” the former Enyimba handler told http://npfl.ng.
The former El-Kanemi Warriors player said there is room for new players to be injected into the CHAN 2018 squad.
“We made eight changes to the initial squad that played against Plateau United, the essence is to assess our boys and see where they have got strength, so we are work in progress until we find the right team for CHAN in Morocco.
“There will be call-up for Tosin Omoyele, who recently moved from Osun United to Plateau United,” Yusuf said.
