Super Eagles too strong for us ―Mascherano

Argentina defender, Javier Mascherano believes the physical strength of the Super Eagles was just too much for him and his teammates to handle, stressing that Nigeria’s second half performance was just too good for them to contain.

The Barcelona of Spain player disclosed that the Super Eagles were a far better side after the break and fully deserved their victory.

He said “We knew the game will not be an easy one because they have some fantastic young talents and their captain is very experienced. Clearly, we were second best in the second half as they came out really smoking. I must admit they deserved their victory.

“When you play against a team of such physical strength you pay the price. They walked all over us and when we tried to get back in the match, we couldn’t,” Mascherano added.

The former Liverpool player also posited that he believes Argentina will come good ahead of the World Cup next year.

“It’s been a difficult year for the country, I must say the results not really going our way, but I believe we have the ability to turn it around. We believe in our coach and I am confident we will bounce back,” he concluded.
