Super Eagles Watch: Nigerian stars in Premier League endure frustrating outings

After being granted an unwanted break due to missing out on the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, some Nigerian stars in England were back in action with the resumption of the Premier League and Championship.

Unfortunately, it turned out to be a disappointing outing for the Eagles as they all experienced defeat with their various teams.

Below, Sporting Tribune brings you a review of their performances for their club sides

 

Premier League

Everton 1-2 Wolves

Alex Iwobi: Everton’s standout player this season, Iwobi featured for 90 mins as Everton fell to a late defeat against Wolves. The midfielder who has struggled for form has been in a rich vein this season, contributing 5 assists and I goal in the EPL.

 

Leicester City 0-3 Newcastle United

Kelechi Iheanacho: Seniorman has endured a frustrating season, with goals and appearances hard to come by. Starting from the bench, Iheanacho was Brough on in the 71st minute with Leicester already 3-0 down. Unfortunately, his introduction failed to improve Leicester’s fortunes.

Wilfried Ndidi: Starting from the bench, Ndidi was brought on in the 72nd but also couldn’t impact the game for Leicester.

English Championship

Watford 0-2 Millwall

William Troost-Ekong: Brought in at the start of the 2nd half, as 10-man Watford fell to Millwall in the Championship

Samuel Kalu: Brought on in the 72nd minute with Watford a man down and 2 goals down, but failed to influence the game. Has endured a slow start to the Championship. Playing 7 matches and failing to score in any.

 

Bristol City 0-2 West Bromwich Albion

Semi Ajayi: An unused sub as West Brom sealed an away victory.
