The first batch of Team Nigeria athletes and officials will depart their pre-Games training camp in Aberdeen, Scotland, for the host city of Glasgow on Tuesday as preparations enter the final stage ahead of the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
A second batch of athletes and officials is scheduled to move into the Games Village on Friday, joining teammates already in Glasgow before the opening events.
The phased movement follows several weeks of intensive training and acclimatisation in Aberdeen, where Team Nigeria completed its final preparations for one of the Commonwealth’s biggest multi-sport events.
The National Sports Commission (NSC) said it has continued to provide technical, medical and welfare support to ensure the athletes arrive in Glasgow in peak condition.
Team Nigeria will compete across several sports, with the country’s medal ambitions boosted by strong performances from its athletes at recent continental and international competitions.

The NSC expressed confidence that the team is well prepared to represent Nigeria and compete successfully throughout the Games.
The 2026 Commonwealth Games will be held in Glasgow, Scotland, from 23 July to 2 August, bringing together about 3,000 athletes from 74 Commonwealth Games Associations.
Competitors will contest 215 gold medals across 11 sports during the Games.
Scotland is hosting the Commonwealth Games for the fourth time, having previously staged the event in Edinburgh (1970 and 1986) and Glasgow (2014).
The Games are regarded as one of the world’s leading multi-sport events, featuring athletes from countries and territories across the Commonwealth.
