It was another moment of glory as Team Nigeria para-athletics shines again at the 19th edition of the World Para-Athletics Games in Tunisia.
The team the clinched a total of 19 medals — 10 gold, 6 silver, and 3 bronze to finish second overall out of 61 participating countries at the world para-athletics grand prix held in Tunis, Tunisia.
In a press statement signed by Kehinde Ajayi, Director information and protocol NSC, made available to Sporting Tribune in Yola said the leadership and the unwavering support of the Chairman, National Sports Commission (NSC), Mallam Shehu Dikko, and the Director General, Mr. Bukola Olopade, spur the team’s historic performance at the global sporting community.
The Nigerian contingent proved their dominance in track and field events across multiple disability classes.
Several athletes claim multiple podium finishes, most notably, Flora Ugwunwa, Sefiu Ojeley, Alam Ugochi, and Uwak Unyime.
As the final day of the competition Team Nigeria echoed proudly in the air, symbolising not just athletic achievement but the triumph of team spirit support among the athletes and officials.

According to the statement, “this performance reaffirms Nigeria’s place as a powerhouse in para-athletics, and sets the stage for even greater glory at future international competitions.”
The dedication of the athletes and the strategic backing of the President Para- Athletic Federation, Hon. Rafiu Olawale Etti ensured Nigeria’s successful outing and the foundational support from para-athletics officials have proven to be a winning formula.
