Teams land in q/finals of FCMB Cup football tournament

The second edition of the First City Monument Bank (FCMB) football tournament in Ibadan, Oyo State among staff members of the Bank in the South West 1 has entered the quarter-final stage from today.

The remaining teams in the competition vying for the star prize at stake are: Agbeni, UCH, Challenge, Bodija, Ojoo, Iwo Road, Agbowo and Dugbe branch.

The competition is being organised to promote the physical and mental wellbeing of the staff of FCMB as well as unity.

FCMB Branch Manager, Ojoo, Ibadan, Mr Olalekan Yusuf, said the organisers have introduced athletics, egg race, sack race and tug of war among the female staff to add glamour to this year’s edition.

“This competition was put in place traditionally by the Bank to make it easy for us as bankers with tight scheduled to be able to exercise ourselves and also to create bonding among staff.

“Bankers are very busy and so there is hardly time for us to be involved in recreation and also to do sporting activities. The Bank felt there is the need to create a platform to exercise ourselves.

“All the branches (eight) are competing for honours including our micro-finance outlet at the tourney.”
