Marco Asensio
Marco Asensio has spoken out for the first time since suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury which will rule him out for the majority of the 2019/20 season.
The Spaniard had scored Real Madrid’s equaliser in their 2-2 draw against Arsenal in the International Champions Cup on Tuesday night before being stretchered off midway through the second half.
“I started this season with the renewed hope, taking care of even the smallest detail of my preparation to make it a great season for all Real Madrid fans and for myself,” Asensio wrote on social media.
“When things are going well, life can hit you at any moment and, in an instant, completely change everything.

“These are very hard days in which to process everything, but another personal challenge begins in my life and I am still confident that it will be a great season,” he added.
Finally, Asensio wanted to thank his fans for the support he has received since suffering his injury.
“Your messages of support and affection give me even more strength to face this challenge.
“I thank you from the heart for all your support,” Asensio concluded.
