Three Pillars win Ball Off 2016 Tournament

Three Pillars FC of Lagos Island last Sunday emerged winners of the Ball Off 2016 Football Tournament as they defeated defending champions, Amsterdam FC of Obalende 2-0 in the final decided at Meadow School Football pitch, Lekki, Lagos.

Adisa Bakare opened the scoring for the Three Pillars in the first half. Bakare also finished as the tournament’s highest goalscorer, while Ibrahim Sodiq put the game beyond dispute in the dying minutes.

The victorious Pillars were rewarded with the prize money of N100,000 aside the giant trophy.

Other teams which participated in the one-day football fiesta are We are the Best FC, TNF FC, Shonda FC, Contract FC, MTN FC and Pacers FC.

In the female category, Ariel FC defeated Mulan FC 2-0 to win the star prize of N75,000 as well as N40,000 to give to any charity home as donation.

Speaking with Tribunesport, a member of the organisers of the tournament, Folajimi Ayodeji said the tournament lived up to expectations.

He stated that so many talented footballers could be discovered through such grassroots competition adding that the organisers are working to make the seventh edition of the tournament bigger and better next year.

He noted that the support received from MTN Nigeria, PPV, Medplus and La Casera contributed to the success of the competition this year.
