No fewer than 190 golfers from across the country are expected to participate in the 26th edition of Tiger Open scheduled for 2 Division Nigerian Army, Odogbo Cantonment, Ibadan.
Speaking at the press briefing to herald the tournament, Tiger Golf Club Captain, Barrister Tunde Akande said Tiger Open, which is the biggest amateur golf tournament in Nigeria, will see a number of top golfers across the country compete for prizes in various categories of the event.
According to him, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division Nigerian Army, Major General G.U. Chibuisi will declare the tournament open on Friday night during the cocktail party and he is expected to tee off the tournament on Saturday at 9:00am.

“Tiger Open is a signature event which we usually use to celebrate golfers from all over the country and in view of the Covid-19 regulation, we have pegged the number of the participants to 190.
“The tournament is scheduled for two days, officially starting on Friday with the arrival of golfers for practice round and in the evening, there will be a cocktail which will be declared open by the Patron of the Club, General Officer Commanding 2 Division Nigerian Army, Major General G.U. Chibuisi.
“The tournament is in his honour, that is why it is Tiger Open because he is the ‘Chief Tiger’ and this is the 26th edition and we will ensure that this year’s tournament is a huge success.
“The committee is headed by Brigadier General Richard Pam, Chairman, Local Organising Committee (LOC).

He said some of the clubs expected to participate in the two-day tourney include, are Ikeja Golf Club, Ekiti Golf Club, Kaduna Golf Club, Jaji Golf Club, Ibom Golf Club, Otukpo Golf Club, IBB Country Golf Club, Ikoyi Golf Club, Abeokuta Golf Club, Sagamu Golf Club, MicCom and Country Golf Club, Ada, Tiger Golf Club, Ogbomoso Golf Club among others.
The closing ceremony is billed to take place on Sunday, December 12 at 4 pm.
