Tottenham have had a £60million offer for Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez accepted. Sportsmail understands if the Argentine does sign for Spurs the plan is for him to play alongside Harry Kane next season.
Head coach Nuno Espírito Santo wants to play two up front and views Martinez and Kane as a deadly combination.
Arsenal also have a strong interest in Martinez, but there is growing hope at Tottenham that they can pull off what would be one of the most exciting transfers of the summer.
Kane returned to Tottenham’s training ground on Saturday five days after failing to report back to the club as he tried to force through a move to Manchester City.

The signing of Martinez could convince Kane that Spurs are determined to build a competitive side ready to challenge for the top-four again after failing to qualify for the Champions League for the last two seasons.
Martinez would certainly elevate Spurs’ level after scoring 31 goals in all competitions and contributing nine assists for Inter as they romped to the Serie A title.
The squad that won Inter their first title since 2010 is rapidly disintegrating, however.
Key right back Achraf Hakimi has joined Paris-Saint Germain while Romelu Lukaku is set to join Chelsea in a £98m deal.
Coach Antonio Conte has already left and the club is believed to be close to financial ruin which is triggering mass sales.
