Heung-min Son has moved closer to securing a military service exemption.

Under Korean law, all men must do 21 months of National Service before their 28th birthday.

Son, 26, is able to earn an exemption by the South Korean Army if he wins either this year’s Asian Games or the 2019 Asian Cup.

South Korea will next face Syria or Vietnam in the semi-final on Wednesday
