The Nigerian’s La Liga struggles continue as his side were only able to draw 1-1 draw at home with Deportivo La Coruna on Saturday
Granada and Uche Agbo salvaged a 1-1 draw at home against Deportivo La Coruna in La Liga on Saturday when the visitors’ goalkeeper Przemyslaw Tyton scored an own goal in the 81st minute.
Florin Andone’s 64th minute strike had given the bottom club a second-half lead, but they remain without a win from their first 11 matches, whilst the Blue and Whites are without a victory in four.
20-year-old Agbo started his eighth match of the campaign for the struggling Nasrids, and delivered the kind of commanding performance that convinced Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr to hand him his maiden call up to the Super Eagles squad last month for the 2018 World Cup qualifiers as a late replacement for injured defender Leon Balogun.
Despite Balogun’s return in the latest squad to play Algeria in the Eagles’ second qualifier on November 12 in Uyo, Agbo has kept a place in Rohr’s squad and he will head to the upcoming camp hoping to become the latest Flying Eagle to graduate to the Super Eagles.
Playing time won’t come easy, however, as Rohr has retained the bulk of the squad that defeated Zambia 2-1 in Ndola earlier this month to establish Nigeria at the top of Group B on the road to Russia, and is unlikely to shuffle his team too much for the Algeria match.
