On Tuesday night, Erling Haaland continued his incredible form by scoring his 45th goal of the season in Manchester City’s 3-0 victory over Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final.
Haaland’s goal was the final one of the game and helped Man City to secure a comfortable win against the German giants.
The 45 goals scored by Haaland this season have now set a new record, surpassing the previous benchmark of 44 goals in a single season set by Ruud van Nistelrooy in 2002/03 and Mohamed Salah in 2017/18.

What’s even more impressive is that both Van Nistelrooy and Salah reached that tally after playing 52 matches, while Haaland has only played 39 games so far. He still has the potential to feature in 13 more matches for Man City this season.

The Norwegian striker has been in blistering form this season and shows no signs of slowing down. His goals have helped Man City to secure a place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, as well as being in contention for the Premier League title.
With over a month of the season still to play, it will be interesting to see how many more goals Haaland can score and if he can help Man City to secure both the domestic and European titles.
Records still up for grabs
Erling Haaland’s exceptional performance in the ongoing football season has seen him break several records, including the most goals scored by a Premier League player in a season and a Man City player over a campaign. However, there are still other records that he could potentially break.
Currently, Haaland has scored 30 goals in the Premier League, just two goals shy of the record held by Mohamed Salah for a 38-game season and four goals behind Andy Cole’s record when 42 matches were played.
In the Champions League, Haaland has scored 10 goals so far, putting him six goals behind Cristiano Ronaldo’s record for most strikes in a campaign with 17. With Haaland’s current form, it is entirely possible for him to break both of these records before the end of the season.
