CRISTIANO Ronaldo was once again of vital importance to the team. The Portuguese striker opened the scoring against Malaga to set the course for Madrid to win La Liga, and prove that his great form continues.
Zidane’s rotation system has been very commented this season, especially when the French manager has done what no other Madrid coach had dared to do: to rest Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Real boss convinced the star striker that to spare his efforts for the key moments was the best thing for him and for the team. That way, the Madrid hotshot arrived at the crucial stage of the season in fantastic form.
Time has proved Zidane right, and Cristiano Ronaldo is offering his best version when the team most needs it. He was decisive against Bayern Munich and Atletico in the Champions League, and scored in La Liga matches against Celta, Sevilla and Malaga.
Despite all this, and all the hype regarding Ronaldo’s part in the squad rotation, there is an interesting fact about Ronaldo’s season. Though many might think that the striker has not played as much this season, CR7 has played more minutes than any other Madrid player in the league campaign.
Cristiano Ronaldo appears on the list ahead of Toni Kroos, Sergio Ramos or Keylor Navas… His numbers may not be those of previous years, but his role in the team remains as important as ever.
