Vidal signs for Barcelona

Arturo Vidal is now an FC Barcelona player. The signing of the Chilean central midfielder was completed incredibly quickly after Barça decided to abandon their pursuit of Adrien Rabiot and found an alternative in Vidal.

Arturo Vidal, who is 31 years old, will arrive at Barcelona in the next few hours to undergo a medical and sign a three-year contract. The Chilean is someone Ernesto Valverde asked for to replace the experience lost by Paulinho’s sale to Chinese club Guangzhou.

The midfielder was born on the 22nd May 1987 in Santiago, Chile. After beginning his career with Colo Colo he arrived in Europe in 2007 when he joined Bayer Leverkusen. After four seasons with the German club, he then signed for Juventus. Vidal played 171 matches for the Italian giants and scored 48 goals. He also won four Serie A titles in his time with the Old Lady.

In 2015 Vidal moved to Bayern Munich to replace the outgoing Bastian Schweinsteiger. In four seasons with Bayern he played in 132 matches and scored 22 goals. He’ll join Barça after they agreed to pay €18m up front plus €3m in variables to the German club. The player will earn €9m per season at the Camp Nou.

Vidal becomes Barcelona’s fourth signing this summer following the arrivals of Lenglet, Arthur and Malcom.
