NIGERIA’S Super Eagles have been promised N20 million if they beat the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde today in a matchday two 2022 World Cup qualifier.
The game holds at the Estádio Municipal Adérito Sena, Mindelo from 5:00pm.
The 21-man Super Eagles squad on Monday morning landed on the island of Mindelo, after a four-hour flight from Lagos aboard Air Peace Airline whose chairman, Allen Onyema, promised the Super Eagles the cash incentive.
Recall that Air Peace a few days ago signed a partnership agreement with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) as official carrier of all the Nigerian national teams.
In a video posted on the official Facebook page of Super Eagles, Onyema said, “If you win this match, I am going to give the team N20 million on arrival. I’ll bring the cash and hand it over.
“This will serve as a stepping stone in unifying our Nation. Go there and die for the country.
“You won your first match resoundingly, and we expect that the one happening in Cape Verde in 24 hours time will not be different.“You’re carrying on your young shoulders the aspirations and the hopes of a Nation. You must help us in restoring hope to this country.

“Nigeria is a great country with so much potential to achieve. We are yet to get there. We may have our differences but we love ourselves.
“We knew some of our players had to leave after the match and they had to do well before leaving because they cannot go to Cape Verde.”Nigeria, it will be recalled, at theweekend pipped the Lone Star ofLiberia 2-0 in the 2022 World Cup qualifying series opener in Lagos, with Kelechi Iheanacho scoring all goals.
Iheanacho alongside Oghenekaro Etebo, Leon Balogun, Joe Aribo, Alex Iwobi, William Troost-Ekong, and Wilfred Ndidi will not be in action today for the three-time African champions as a result of the COVID-19 restriction placed on UK-based players not to travel to the 26 red-list countries; while Torino FC defender, Ola Aina has also been ruled out of the game according to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
