‘I want to carry on at Arsenal’

Amid links of a big-money move to Premier League sides, and striker Alexandre Lacazette’s imminent move to the Emirates, Olivier Giroud has said he has no intention of leaving Arsenal.

The rumours situate the France international away from north London, especially as Arsene Wenger prepares to sign striker Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon, and maybe even break the world transfer-record in a bid for Kylian Mbappe.

However, Giroud is determined to prove himself as a ‘loyal warrior’, despite attracting interest from West Ham and Everton.

He told the Arsenal website: ‘I won a few titles in my career, that is an important thing, but there is another thing which is important for me. And that’s the people remember you as a loyal warrior on the pitch, that you always give your best for the team’, the 30-year-old said.

Alexandre Lacazette’s £44 million move to the Gunners will provide fresh competition for the centre-forward, but Giroud is determined to fight for a place in the team: ‘And that’s why I want to carry on my good journey at Arsenal and I always want to give my best’.

Olivier Giroud plans to see out his contract, which runs until 2020: ‘I would love to win another title, or maybe more until the end of my contract. The motivation is here, always doing your best to make your family proud’, the Frenchman said.
