Watford have unveiled Roy Hodgson as their new manager, following the departure of Claudio Ranieri.
74-year-old Hodgson has been out of the game since he left Crystal Palace at the end of last season, and he resumes his status as the oldest manager in Premier League history.
“Watford FC is delighted to confirm the appointment of Roy Hodgson as the club’s manager,” a club statement read.
“The ex-England national team boss is joined by his trusted assistant Ray Lewington, who managed the Hornets so admirably from 2002 until 2005.
“Hodgson and Lewington begin preparations immediately for Watford’s next Premier League fixture; away to Burnley on Saturday February 5.

Hodgson takes over with Watford 19th in the Premier League, with their last win coming all the way back in November when they stunned Manchester United 4-1. The Hornets have lost 14 of their opening 20 top-flight matches this season.
Hodgson arrives with a good record of guiding teams to Premier League survival, though. During the 2007/08 season he took over a Fulham side who had won just twice at the turn of the year and led them to safety. He also consistently kept Palace clear of danger during his time at Selhurst Park.
