Wayne Rooney return to Everton not ruled out

Everton are looking into their options to replace striker Romelu Lukaku, bound to leave the club this summer.

Wayne Rooney is likely to leave Manchester United this summer, and Everton could be a destination for the former England captain.

The Toffees are readying themselves for Romelu Lukaku’s exit and are eyeing potential replacements to lead the line, including Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud or a return to Goodison Park for Wayne Rooney.

The 31-year-old, who found opportunities under Mourinho limited, has said in the past that Everton remain one of the only two Premier League sides he will play for.

Rooney has been linked with big-money moves to China or the USA, but a chance to return to his childhood club, and an opportunity to stay in England, could make up his mind. In the meantime, Everton will not write him off as an option to fill in Lukaku’s big boots.
