‘We played a great game’, Ancelotti hails Madrid 4-0 Copa del Rey win over Barcelona

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti praised his team’s performance as “perfect” following their 4-0 victory over Barcelona at Camp Nou in the Copa del Rey semi-final second leg.

The result secured Madrid’s place in the final with a 4-1 aggregate win. Despite facing a difficult challenge against their rivals, who are currently 12 points ahead of them at the top of La Liga, Madrid was able to level the tie through Vinicius Junior just before half-time.

In the second half, Karim Benzema completed a hat-trick to secure a stunning victory and a place in the final against Osasuna on May 6th.

“[It was] a bit hard at first, but in the second half we did very well. We did not panic when they pressed and we knew how to take advantage of the spaces in transitions.

“We played the perfect match.”

Speaking on the form of Karim Benzema who scored a hat trick against Barcelona, fresh off a hat trick in LaLiga over the weekend, Ancelotti stated that the striker is one of the best in the world, tipping the French star for another Ballon d’Or.

“He has flicked the switch. He is still one of the best players in the world, without a doubt. If he’s fit, he’s one of the best.

“He can win another Ballon d’Or because he is one of the best forwards in the world.
