We’re focused on football development in Anambra — ANSFA Chairman, Iloenyosi

The Chairman of the Anambra State Football Association (ANSFA), Chikelue Iloenyosi, has stated that his administration is focused on promoting football growth in the state through implementing programmes and activities that will engage the youths meaningfully.

The football administrator made this statement during a press briefing with journalists in Awka on Tuesday, 30th September 2025, at the ANSFA Secretariat.

Iloenyosi stated that under his watch, his vision is to interface with Anambra’s talented youths through football activities by engaging them meaningfully in order to stem the tide of social vices, quell any form of youth restiveness and harness their talents and youthful energy positively.

Responding on the recent accusations by one Iyke Igbokwe, Iloenyosi averred that his administration has no time for detractors who have no meaningful contributions to make towards football development in the state but are only concerned about their selfish desires and quest to reap where they did not sow.

Iloenyosi pointed out that Igbokwe is a rabble-rouser in the business of destructive criticism against the National Sports Commission (NSC), Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the ANSFA, owing to his non-involvement in their activities after his push to be part of the reputable organisations all failed.

Iloenyosi said: “We are focused on changing the narrative for sports development in the state using football as we are gradually unveiling our programmes and activities targeted towards youth engagement and harnessing their potential.

“One of our objectives is to return to the glory days when Anambra used to have at least four to five players playing for the Super Eagles and other national teams.

“This is our focus, we do not have time for detractors and rabble-rousers such as one Iyke Igbokwe, who, over the years, has been known for his selfish motives and destructive criticism of reputable sports organisations in the land.

“We have a noble brand and our focus is to use the platform to impart the lives of our teeming youths.”

The Anambra FA Chairman also eulogised Governor Charles Soludo for his support of sports development in the state, while assuring that the ANSFA will continue to churn out programmes and activities that will add value to society and support his re-election bid.
