Werner will consider his Chelsea future this summer

Timo Werner will consider his Chelsea future in the summer if he cannot regain a regular place in Thomas Tuchel’s team.

The Germany international has made just two Premier League starts so far this season and was an unused substitute in Wednesday’s loss against Juventus, despite the fact the Blues were chasing the game for virtually the entire second half.

And what appears to be a new peripheral role for Werner is understood to be causing the German growing concern.

Werner was keen to fight for his place in the Blues team despite a difficult first season at the club following a big money arrival from Red Bull Leipzig.

The signing of Romelu Lukaku has played a role in limiting Werner’s game time this season, nevertheless the forward remains committed to making his Blues career a success.

However, if he continues to find himself on the fringes of Tuchel’s plans, the 25-year-old is likely to assess his options ahead of next season.

Werner’s reputation remains intact back in his native Germany, and a return home would be a likely scenario if he is to leave Chelsea ahead of next season.

He has scored just once this season, in the Carabao Cup win over Aston Villa.
