‘Why dem come first give us BP?’: Netizens react to Nigeria’s win against Gabon

Social media users have continued to react differently to the Super Eagles of Nigeria’s 4-1 win against Gabon at the African World Cup qualifier playoff semi-final.

The match, which was played at the Prince Moulay Hassan Stadium in Rabat, Morocco, on Thursday, went into extra time after an intense 90 minutes of regular play.

Sevilla forward Akor Adams opened the scoring for Nigeria before Mario Lemina, who plays for Galatasaray in Turkey, equalised, forcing the game into extra time.

Chidera Ejuke restored Nigeria’s lead in the first half of extra time before Victor Osimhen netted a brace to make up for his earlier missed chances.

The match has, however, continued to generate reactions on social media, with many Nigerians expressing joy over the result.

Reacting to the result of the match on X, a user @Wizarab10 tweeted, “Why dem come first give us BP?”

A former presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad wrote, “Well done Super Eagles. Going to the World Cup is just two wins away. We do believe. 👊🏾🇳🇬”

Another user, @longgametips wrote, “This is the best football I have seen the super eagles play for a long time.”

“The super Eagles are playing like professionals today. Simply amazing,” @Peterdtruthojo opined.

@TRealvicki wrote, “Victor Osimhen missed two clear chances. The coach kept faith. He stayed patient and scored twice in extra time.

Life lesson: Don’t quit when it’s not working. Patience isn’t weakness, it’s belief in timing. Your winning moment may just need more time.”

Reality star and influencer Natacha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, wrote on X, “Best attacker in the world no doubt.

His name is VICTOR OSIMHEN!!!”

Following the victory, Nigeria will now face the winner of the match between Cameroon and DR Congo in the final of the African World Cup qualifier playoff on Sunday.
