Why I signed new Liverpool deal — Salah

Mohamed Salah has said his belief that Liverpool are primed to keep fighting for top honours was a key factor in extending his stay at Anfield.

The Egyptian will continue to wear the No. 11 shirt for the Reds beyond the conclusion of the current campaign after signing a new contract with the club.

He and Arne Slot’s side are determined to add another league title as they lead the division by 11 points with seven matches remaining in 2024-25.

The prospect of continuing to be in the conversation for major trophies with the team figured among the primary incentives for Salah to remain on Merseyside.

“If I don’t believe that I would have not signed. I believe the team can win trophies.

“With the support of the fans and the city, and the support they always give us in the games, I believe we can win many trophies in the next years,” the forward told Liverpoolfc.com during an exclusive interview.

Liverpool’s short-term aim of securing this season’s championship continues with the hosting of West Ham United on Sunday afternoon.

“I think I said in the beginning of the season, I just want to win the Premier League more than anything else. I want it so bad, to be fair.

“The fans deserve it – last time we won it we didn’t celebrate it that much. Hopefully we do it this time. There’s still seven games to go, it’s not going to be easy at all because Arsenal are also catching up.

“We’ll give it our all and hopefully in the end we can win it,” Salah said of his own desire to make that objective a reality.
