Wike rewards FCT athletes with cash prizes

FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike showered cash gifts on athletes who flew the FCT flag high at the Delta 2022 National Sports Festival (NSF) and 6th and 7th editions of the National Youth Games also in Delta State in 2022 and 2023.

Represented by the FCT Mandate Secretary, Social Development, Honourable, Ibrahim Aminu, Wike reiterated his commitment to advancing sports development in the FCT and pledged to create an enabling environment for youths to excel.

The minister said under his watch, there will be more reward for any athletes who put FCT on the part of success saying their efforts will never be in vain.

Sporting Tribune reports that gold medalists from the Delta 2022 Sports Festival were rewarded with cash prize of ₦600,000, silver medalists ₦400,000, and bronze medalists ₦250,000. For the Youth Games, gold medalists got ₦400,000, silver medalists ₦300,000 and bronze medalists ₦200,000.

The Secretary of the Social Development Secretariat, Olubunmi Olowookere, commended Wike for his magnanimity in rewarding our young athletes.
