Zambia coach Wedson Nyirenda is preparing his wards for a kind of war – psychological – towards the October 7 World Cup qualifier against Nigeria.
According to reports, Nyirenda envisages that the all-important match will be highly psychological and for that reason, he is breaking sweats to ensure that the Chipolopolo are in a great form.
“This game will be highly psychological, therefore we are working on their mental strength before the match. Every player and everyone on our bench know and believe that this time is our time,” Nyirenda told Fazfootball.com, the official website of the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ).
The Chipolopolo are looking to cause an upset to bag the only ticket in the group B of the African qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup and to do that, they will need an outright win against the Super Eagles in Uyo on October 7.
The resurgent Zambians revived their World Cup ambition following their shock victories against the Algerian Desert Foxes over two legs early this month. The results have shot them to the second position on the log with seven points. Nigeria are on 10 points.
However, while previewing the Nigeria match, Nyirenda admits that it will be totally different from those against Algeria. “Nigeria is a different team, we are not going to be big headed because we beat Algeria. We are focused on looking at Nigeria only,” he said.
