‘You’ve made us proud’, Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Soludo’s wife hail Super Falcons

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, and Anambra First Lady, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, lauded Nigeria’s Super Falcons for their stunning comeback win over Morocco in the final of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Odumegwu-Ojukwu described Nigeria’s all-conquering female team, the Super Falcons, are the nation’s strongest ambassadors.

The minister had, before the match, made a viral video encouraging the team to go all out and bring the trophy home.

In the morale-booster message, she declared them formidable, indisputable and the strongest ambassadors of the nation.

The Super Falcons became the first African team in history to clinch the title for a record 10th time.

“You have once again made us proud. You didn’t allow the setback of the first half to weigh you down.? Fired by the typical Nigerian spirit, you came into the second stanza of the game and stamped your authority in every department, dominating it, not minding the vociferous supporters of the host opponents. With your fantastic and stunning performance, you silenced the crowd.

“Truth is that you clearly displayed the heart of true champions: exceptional character, discipline, resilience, unity of purpose and the mission was emphatically accomplished to the consternation of the host.

“You are our immutable and strongest ambassadors. I thank you once again for making Nigeria proud,” Odumegwu-Ojukwu said.

On her part, Nonye Soludo congratulated the Super Eagles in a statement signed and made available to journalists in Awka on Sunday by her media aide, Daniel Ezeigwe.

Mrs Soludo also described the team’s performance as a showcase of “exceptional skill, resilience, and unwavering determination”.

“The Super Falcons coming from two goals down to defeat the host nation speaks volumes about their fighting spirit and refusal to give up.

“Our girls exemplified the dogged, can-do attitude that Nigeria is globally known for. You are truly the champions of Africa. What a game! Congratulations to our 10-time champions. Congratulations, Nigeria,” she said.
