Sunshine Stars Football Club of Akure had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Rangers International FC of Enugu in their Group B campaign match on match day 13 of the 2022/2023 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The match played at the Ondo State Sports Complex in Akure saw Yusuf Ibrahim score for the home team in the 13th minute, while Rangers drew level in the 25th minute after a defensive mix-up between the home team goalkeeper and a defender.
This was Sunshine Stars’ third consecutive draw after their earlier draws against Wikki Tourists FC and Doma United on match days 10 and 11, respectively.

Sunshine Stars still have a game in hand against Rivers United on match day 12, and they currently sit fifth on the log with 18 points, while Rangers are eighth with 14 points in the group B of the NPFL.
Despite their efforts to break the visitors’ defense in the second half, Sunshine Stars couldn’t find a winner. Their late goal in the 89th minute was disallowed due to a foul on the Rangers goalkeeper by the centre referee.
No post-match interviews were conducted as there was tension between both teams and their officials after the referee blew the final whistle.
