CHIPOLOPOLO of Zambia coach, Wedson Nyirenda has noted that his team could neutralise Nigeria’s Super Eagles next Sunday if attention is paid to detail.
Both teams clash in a Russia 2018 group game this weekend in Ndola and Nyirenda insists that game plan and not personality would win the duel.
“I have had genuine calls asking me to match Nigeria with experienced players,” Nyirenda told ZAMFOOT, while answering questions on why he dropped veterans like Kola Raccha and Misheck Chaila.
He added: “If you look at the Nigerian team, they have very fast players. Ahmed Musa, Victor Moses and Kelechi Iheanacho are fast, sharp and powerful, they hurt on the counter. So when you have to play a team like this, you must pick the right players. There are a couple of gentlemen I would have loved to be with, but to be honest, they may not be ready for this game, we have no enough time.”
Nyirenda, on Sunday announced his 23-man squad for preparatory training for Sunday’s game. On Tuesday, he was defending his selections before the Zambia media and explained “we have to be positive, it is important we start the qualifiers very well and we need to concentrate more on the match now that we have a team.’’
