The second day of the Kaduna regional finals witnessed a harvest of goals, as two of Day 1’s losers redeemed themselves convincingly
Zamfara 6-0 Kebbi
Following their narrow loss to Sultan Bello Secondary School, Sokoto on the opening day, Government Day Secondary School, Zamfara were well aware they could not afford another slip-up. Consequently, they ran riot against Army Day Secondary School, Kebbi. Winger Fahad Shehu helped himself to a first-half hat trick, as did teammate Umar Sule Bello who took his tally for the tournament to four goals overall. The lads from Kebbi were powerless to resist, and have it all to do on Day three.
Kano 6-0 Jigawa
Unity College, Jigawa have, for the second day running, proved the whipping boys of the Kaduna regional. Their six shipped against GSS Sumaila, Kano took their goal difference to -18 for the tournament, and effectively eliminated them from the running. Abba Ibrahim opened the floodgates after just 9 minutes, before Mubarak Inuwa plundered a hat trick. Muftau Zakari and Buhari Musa got in on the act as well to register Kano’s first points of the competition.
Bauchi 0-0 Kaduna
A partisan home crowd made for a great atmosphere as the host state held free-scoring Bauchi to a goalless draw. It was not, however, lacking in incident, as Isah Mohammed hit the frame of the goal from the penalty spot, and GSS Kaduna were denied by the woodwork on three further occasions. Both sides maintain an unbeaten record going into the final day, and are in direct competition for one of the two qualification slots.
