Zimbabwe to host CAF African Schools Football Championship in April

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced that the 2026 edition of the CAF African Schools Football Championship Continental Finals will be hosted in Harare, Zimbabwe’s capital, from 2nd to 10th April, 2026.

According to CAF media release, the Championship, now on its fourth year, was initiated by CAF President, Dr Patrice Motsepe, in 2021 in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire and the kick-off event was held in Mozambique, Maputo, a few months later. Zimbabwe has not hosted a CAF event in over six years.

At least three million boys and girls have participated in the Championship since 2022, making it the biggest school football competition globally. While a total of 48 African countries have participated, a total of 82,477 schools across Africa have registered their presence in the programme.

To date, in excess of $2.6 million has been contributed towards refurbishments of educational and sporting facilities across various schools in Africa.
