A gold medallist and representative of Union Bank at The Just-Ended Asoju-Oba table tennis championship in Lagos, Bose Odusanya, has attributed her success to the support she received from the management of the bank.
Speaking with Corporatesport, Odusanya, who participated in the championship as a defending champion, recalled that the support accorded the team by the Union Bank’s management was enough to keep the spirit high. “I appeared unfit and sick during the encounter and was at the verge of giving up but the zeal to win for my team (Union Bank) kept me on and I thank God I defended the title in 2016,” she said.
Rilwan Akanbi, also of Union Bank was outstanding in the men’s singles which he won 4-3 against the aspiring Azeez Sholanke of the Ojez Tennis Club.
However, Rilwan and Alimot Ayinla of Union Bank were among the eight players picked by the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation to represent the country at the 2016 World Youth Championship which began on Monday in South Africa.
Union Bank’s table tennis coach, Samson Ajayi, commended members of the team, while also expressing gratitude to the management of the bank for the all-time support given to the team.
