Following years of neglect of the construction of ultra morden stadium in Adamawa, the State Executive Council(SEE) in its 5th meeting for 2024 on Monday, approved the sum of N4.7 billion Naria for the completion of Numan road stadium in the state capital.
The emergency meeting which was presided over by President in council, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri at the Council Chamber Government House, approved over 4billion naira for the completion of the Jimeta permanent stadium
Briefing journalists shortly after
the emergency meeting the commissioner of information and strategy, Mrs Neido Geoffrey Kufoltu said the council, due to the commitment of the Fintiri led administration to unify youths, promote peaceful coexistence and reduce youths restiveness, the council approved over 4.7billion naira for the completion of the ultra modern stadium.
It could be recalled that successive government had tried to build the stadium whose original concepts was initiated in 1977 had suffered set backs leading to encroachment of the land allocated for the stadium.
She also disclosed that the council also approved 18.8billion naira as variation for the additional work at the super highway from FGGC Yola to AA Lawan junction through Rumde Kila, taking the contact sum to N40.6 billion Naria.
At the emergency meeting held, the commissioner said, the council, she approved formal handover of the C of O of the Federal Medical Centre, Hong to the Federal Ministry of Health for the proper take off of the facility in the overall interest of the citizens
The council according to her, in keeping to one of its agenda approved the payment of a grant of 450million naira as counterpart funding for global fund which will attract 15billion naira for more support and empowerment to service 270 thousand women in the state.
On his part, the commissioner of budget and planning, Emmanuel Piridimso said to ensure budget discipline and MDAs work within its budget except a supplementary budget is required, the council approved 18.2billion against 2023 fiscal year thereby closing that budget year and hoping for a more successful fiscal year.”
