Two Nigerian female FIFA-badged referees are on their way to Cameroon for the prestigious FIFA Elite A course for women FIFA referees in Africa.
The duo, Uloma Nwogu and Mimisen Verite Iyorhe from Anambra and Benue State Referees Council respectively are also on the Premier League list of referees in Nigeria. The programme is scheduled to start today and end on Saturday.
It will be recalled that within this same period, while Felicia Okwugba, a retired FIFA-badged women referee is in Botswana to impart refereeing knowledge to upcoming match officials in the non-FIFA referees course, seasoned referees’ coach and retired international arbiter, Calistus Chukwujekwu is still to return from Switzerland where he is attending
the second leg of the UEFA referees training workshop.
The first leg of the programme was held in May this year.
The Nigeria Referees Association (NRA), led by Mr Tade Azeez in a chat with Tribunesport by phone on Tuesday enjoined the referees to be good ambassadors of the country, just as he expressed joy at the development saying many more of his men and women will make it to the top soonest.
