CHAN Eagles striker, Sunday Faleye.
Nigeria coach, Salisu Yusuf has said the Super Eagles are fired up to win tomorrow’s clash with Equatorial Guinea in the last group C match at the ongoing African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Morocco, so as to return to Tangier, where they had their first two group games.
A good win against already-eliminated Equatorial Guinea in Agadir could make Nigeria finish tops ahead of Rwanda’s Amavubi, who with with four points as well face the Mediterranean Knights of Libya already with three points.
The last group matches hold simultaneously in Tangier and Agadir.
“We are motivated to win again on Tuesday after we did so against Libya because we wish to top our group,” Yusuf was quoted as saying by scorenigeria.com.
“Equatorial Guinea are a good and young team, but we cannot afford to underrate them even though they have already crashed out of the competition.
“But at the same time it was good to get our confidence with the win over Libya and I believe we will carry on from there tonight.”
However, the 56-year-old former Enyimba coach will hope for improved marksmanship by his charges this time as they had only a goal to show in two matches even after 24 shots on target.
The winners of Group C will battle with the runners-up in Group D, which as it stands are Angola, in Tangier.
Sunday Faleye’s 79th minute goal on Friday had dimmed the 2014 champions, Libya, in a match where defender, Stephen Eze clinched the Man of the Match award.
