2018 CHAN: I ‘ll soon be back ―Ezenwa

Injured skipper of Nigeria, Ikechukwu Ezenwa has said that he would soon return to action after a knee injury knocked him out of Sundays final of the 5th African Nations Championship (CHAN) against hosts Morocco.

The Enyimba goalkeeper was forced out of the semi-final against Sudan after 12 minutes by the injury and a scan has later showed he will be out of action for three weeks.

“I am a lot better now, I can even walk even though I feel some pains, but I am confident I will make a quick recovery,” he told SCORENigeria.

“If not for the doctors’ orders I could even say I will return much earlier than predicted.

“I always want to represent Nigeria and this competition will not be my bus stop.”

His place on Sunday will be taken by his cover Dele Ajiboye, who acquitted himself brilliantly when he came on for him against Sudan in the semi-final.

Ezenwa stated that the Eagles have again resolved to make history tomorrow.

“We the players have been having several meetings, we are focused because we want to win the CHAN even though we are not favourites,” he said.

“We want to make 180 million Nigerians proud on Sunday by winning this competition,” the former FC IfeanyiUbah and Sunshine Stars keeper said.

Ezenwa, Sunday Faleye are ruled out of the championship game due to injury, Daniel Itodo has been unwell and Ifeanyi Ifeanyi is suspended after he was sent off against Sudan.
