Algerian striker, El Arabi Hillel Soudani believes the Desert Fennecs can withstand any level of opposition from Nigeria’s Super Eagles on November 12, saying they are very confident of a good result in Uyo.
Both countries clash at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, otherwise known as the ‘Nest of Champions’ in a 2018 World Cup qualifier.
“We conceded a draw at home against Cameroon and allowed two precious points [to slip away],” Soudani told Croatian reporters ahead of his club side, Dinamo Zagreb’s Champions League match tonight.
“The next match will take us in Nigeria, who come from a victory in Zambia. So we know that our mission will be very difficult, but if we can come back with a good result, our chances will be revived.
“We’re really confident. We will prepare thoroughly in Nigeria and we will see what will happen,” added Soudani, who scored his side’s goal against Cameroon.
Meanwhile, the Fennecs have called up 18 foreign professionals, including Leicester City stars, Riyad Mahrez and Islam Slimani, as well as Sofiane Feghouli of West Ham for the match.
Also named for the match are Yacine Brahimi from FC Porto, Nabil Bentaleb of Schalke 04 as well as uncapped Bordeaux midfielder Adam Ounas, who has changed his international allegiance to Algeria after he featured for France at age-grade level.
Newly-appointed coach, Georges Leekens named the squad on Tuesday morning with a proviso to include five players from the domestic league after the country’s Super Cup.
