Defending champions, Nigeria’s D’Tigress spanked Cameroon 106-39 on Tuesday in Dakar, Senegal, in a group B clash of the 2019 AfroBasket Women’s championship to finish tops in the group.
The Nigerian team had thrashed Tunisia 75-26 in their first game on Saturday.
It was a sweet revenge for the Otis Hughley ladies on Tuesday, who had lost narrowly 70-71 to the hosts, Cameroon in the semi-final of the 2015 edition.
Nigeria right from the first quarter maintained dominance till the final whistle.
D’Tigress recorded a 14-point lead in the first quarter which ended 21-7 and took the lead to 26 points as the second quarter ended 28-16 while the Adaora Elonu-captained side extended their lead to 39 points having ended the third quarter 23-10.

The reigning African champions went on the rampage in the last quarter as they recorded a 34-6 victory.
However, despite Nigeria’s victory, Cameroon’s Amina Njonkou finished the game high with 16 points, eight rebounds, one assist and two blocks, while Promise Amukamara turned out to be Nigeria’s best performer on the night.
The American-Nigerian guard, Amukamara, made the double-digit mark with 14 points, six rebounds, three assists, two steals and no block as well.
Meanwhile, Nigeria may face Egypt today in the round of 16 clash of the biennial African showpiece.
Egypt had earlier lost to Cote d’Ivoire 67-71 and only on Tuesday night again lost to hosts Senegal 47-85.
