2022/23 Federation Cup: Rivers United to face Enyimba in round of 64

Rivers United and Enyimba International Football Club are set to face off in a Round of 64 battle in the 2022/2023 Federation Cup.

The draw, which was supervised by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi, was held on Wednesday in Abuja.

The match between the two Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) giants is considered to be the star match of the competition. Rivers United, the defending champions of the NPFL and contenders for this year’s CAF Confederation Cup, will compete against Enyimba, who have won two African Champions League titles and eight Nigerian championships.

Other fixtures include Gateway United of Abeokuta versus Kwara United of Ilorin, ABS FC of Ilorin against Bendel Insurance of Benin, and Ilaji FC of Oyo state against Kano Pillars FC.

The competition will begin on April 26 with all Round of 64 matches in the men’s competition and a Round of 32 matches in the women’s competition.

The Round of 32 matches in the men’s competition have been scheduled for May 3, with the Round of 16 on May 10, and quarter-final matches on May 17.

The semi-finals of both competitions will come up on May 24, with the men’s and women’s grand finale on May 27.
